As part of the European Month of Photography 2025, Believe presents works by four artists from the photography collective _ebene, exploring the theme of faith. The project spans long-term documentary endeavors and live performances, all unified by a playful and personal examination of faith's many dimensions.
The artworks feature a diverse cast of protagonists: believers, religious spaces, church customs and traditions, a trans man on a spiritual journey, and even the exhibition visitors, who become part of the creative experience.
Sankt Studio, a former chapel transformed into a secular artistic space, plays a central role, offering both a compelling backdrop and a point of tension. Believe invites visitors to engage with life's profound questions.
The exhibition is accompanied by a dynamic program of events, including artist talks, sound performances, and public discussions.

Sophia Spitzenberg, also known as "Hamburg's funniest woman with a transition background," doesn't shy away from any topic. Whether it's her broken mental health, her supportive yet clumsy family - including a lesbian pastor as a mother - or JK Rowling, Sophia tackles it all. Finissage with all artists and screening with Bri Michael.
On all exhibition days, Bri Michael invites visitors to have their portrait taken. These images become part of the overarching project .stream., which seeks to capture transience and renewal, as well as closeness and distance, in a visual form.
During the finissage, a screening will reveal the full result - a surprise that will show whether these moments of connection have been successfully captured and made visible.

We Believe, 2021/2022
Berlin, the capital of faith? It seems to contradict the hip party metropolis. Yet it’s home to more than 250 religious communities, a European record. Dominik Maringer took a closer look with WE BELIEVE and found not only prominent houses of worship but also religious communities in the most unusual places in the city, almost parallel worlds. He portrays believers, religious leaders, and places of faith. Some communities bring back memories of his Catholic home village in Austria.
Sabrina Weniger
Jasmine the lovebird chapter two - the source, 2024/25
The Source is the second part of the long-term project Jasmine the Lovebird and takes Sabrina Weniger to several places, including Taichung, Taiwan, the birthplace of her protagonist Chieh.
Chieh’s story is characterized by family trauma that extends into the present and by his own transformation as a trans man. Through spiritual practices, he explores the boundaries of self-understanding, memory, and healing.
Sabrina Weniger accompanies this process photographically—an atmospheric documentation that combines real moments, reconstructed memories, and staged scenes.
Karin Kutter
And it came to pass in those days, 2023/24
In her work And it came to pass in those days Karin Kutter documents the Catholic customs and religious holidays in her hometown in Lower Bavaria. She provides insights into a religious life that’s shaped by tradition, community, and both old and new rituals.

When Does Connection Happen? A Visual Experiment by Bri.Michael
Every day, humans exchange their energy in subtle ways with their environment. Sometimes we are inspired by this, sometimes we feel completely drained. Using a hand sensor (based on Kirlian photography), Bri Michael examines the aura of the person opposite her and creates a portrait from the information on-site.
As a memento, there's a Polaroid.
